Solar Energy leadership

China continues to ramp up its solar capacity additions. According to analysts, 230–260 GW of new solar power plants are expected to be installed in 2024. This will bring the country’s total installed solar power capacity to over 500 GW, cementing China’s position as the world leader in this segment.

The key growth drivers include falling equipment costs, government subsidies, and improving technology. China accounts for more than half of the global solar capacity additions, underscoring its key role in the global transition to clean energy.

However, the industry faces challenges in optimizing the power system, including integrating new capacity and ensuring its stable operation. These issues remain a priority for further sustainable development.
