Extending the life cycle of nuclear power plants

French energy company EDF has announced plans to extend the life of four nuclear power plants in the UK. The plants were originally scheduled to close in the coming years, but the company intends to extend their operation until the late 2020s.

The decision is due to the need to ensure the stability of energy supply against the backdrop of growing demand and the transition to low-carbon technologies. According to EDF representatives, the extension of the nuclear power plants will help maintain the UK’s energy balance and reduce carbon emissions.

As part of the preparation for the extension, the company is carrying out the necessary checks and upgrades to ensure that the plants meet safety requirements.
